Clemson Japanese Speech Competition
On March 4th, 2026 I represented my Japanese class at the Clemson Japanese Speech Competition! For this competition, the speech theme was a moment I felt my own personal growth. I decided to speak about my study abroad experience, and how it helped build my self confidence! At this competition I competed against six other students, where I placed second! This was my first time participating in a speech competition, and I gained a lot from that experience! After this competition, I worked on perfecting my speech for the next competition I planned on participating in!

English Conversation Pairs
For three semesters I participated in Clemson’s English Language program conversation pairs! This program paired a native English speaking student with one international student, who typically were graduate students. Through this program, I was able to meet people from all over the world and learn more about their language, culture, and home! During our weekly meetings my partners and I talked about a wide variety of topics, from hobbies and favorite foods, to our school and future plans! This program helped me grow out of my shell, learn more about the world I live in, and form connections!

Georgia Japanese Speech Competition
On March 21st I traveled to Alpharetta, Georgia to participate in the 2026 Japanese Speech Competition! Participants were placed into one of four categories based on their Japanese proficiency. Category three of the competition was special, because the winner of that category won the grand prize, a round trip flight to Japan sponsored by the Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Georgia and DELTA. I competed in category three alongside nine other participants, where I placed first! I was the only student from Clemson to compete in category three, and I am the first student from Clemson to win the grand prize! Participating in this contest was truly a life changing experience, and I am so grateful to the hosts, sponsors, friends, and fellow participants for making it an amazing day!

Japan-America Association of South Carolina Bon Dance Festival
In August of 2025 I had the opportunity to Volunteer with JAASC at the annual Bon Dance Festival in Greenville, South Carolina! I worked alongside fellow Clemson students at the booth ran by Mitsubishi Chemicals. Our booth was responsible for games such as putt-putt golf and ring toss. At this event there are showcases of various performances such as kyudo archery, taiko, folk songs, bon dance, and more! Participants were also able to purchase bento and merchandise from local vendors! Volunteering at this even gave me the opportunity to connect with the local Japanese community and learn more about Japanese culture!
K -Clemson
For 3 semesters I was a member of K-Clemson, a K-pop dance and social club at Clemson! As a group members learned choreographies, and at the end of the semester we performed them at a showcase! As well as the group performance, I performed solos, duos, and small group dances. I also frequently attended the monthly socials hosted by the club, where we would do trivia, crafts, karaoke, etc. K-Clemson helped me break out of my shell, learn a new skill, be active, and make new friends through a mutual love of K-pop!

Starbucks
If you can't find me on campus, you can most likely find me at my part time job, where I work opening/morning shifts 5 days a week! While working a job and being a full time college student is hard, I am very thankful for everything it has taught me. Through balancing school and work, I have learned the value of hard work and improved my time management skills. I have also met some of my closest friends and biggest supporters!!!
